Catherine - Thanks for the advice, but unfortunatly when I got all the way
to the Browsing section of Internet Options, there was no "Enable folder
view for FTP sites"!! AARRRGGGG!! In fact there was no reference to ftp
sites at all. I'm pretty sure I was in the right place in the Control
Panel. There must be a way! As a small shoe-string budget agency, we have
no on-staff IT people down the hall to ask questions, so I appreciate your
collective attempts to help.

Susan,
I had the same trouble for quite a long time after we made a change in our
server and our email provider, until one of our IT people suggested
something: Either through the "My computer" icon or your Start button and
Settings, go to Control Panel. Click on Internet Options, under Browsing
click *OFF* the check in the box for "Enable folder view for FTP sites,"
click Apply and then OK. It made no sense, but worked for me! I am now
able to access John's FTP site again.

Subject: [FUNDSVCS] Accessing John's ftp site
Ok, I give up. How does one access John's ftp site? I can find
www.adr.duke.edu with no problem, but when I click on "Advancement Services
ftp site" I can't get in. All I get is a little flashlight icon that waves
around like it is looking for something (but never finds it) or I get an
error message saying I am not an authorized user (or something similar). Am
I doing something wrong? Do I need a password or special authorization to
get in? John frequently references his site with regard to pertinent IRS
regs that I would like to take a look at, but I'm getting very frustrated.
I am posting to the whole list in case others are having similar problems
and would like to know the answer. Seems like it should be easy, but I'm
obviously missing something.
Thanks
